The following quotation is from Saint John Bosco (1815-1888,) a Catholic priest who worked with wayward boys and juvenile delinquents in the industrial Northern Italian city of Turin. Although, his life ended near the beginning of the technological age, John Bosco was already seeing the early effects of mass-produced porn upon the youth. This growing phenomenon would eventually contribute to the 1902 murder of 11 year old fellow Italian Maria Goretti by a porn addict who just turned 20. See: https://josephsciambra.com/2013/04/alessandro-serenelli-patron-of-porn.html Later, after being released from prison, the killer revealed the role that porn had played in his eventual turn to crime and madness. Now, the words of John Bosco ring all too tragically true:

“Another weapon the devil employs is immodesty, or more frankly, impurity. My dear children, be on your guard. The devil will tempt you with bad books, bad thoughts, or the foul conversation of a companion. When any such fellow approaches you, say to yourself, this is a minister of Satan. And let these wretches who indulge in foul conversation say to himself, I am a minister of Satan because I help him ruin souls!” – St. John Bosco
